The MW2009 challenge

Page history last edited by Mia 14 years, 11 months ago

Your challenge is to take something from all the conversation at Museums and the Web 2009 and do something with them.

So - pick one task.  To keep the momentum going, you should do it while it's still April 2009.

  • Add one task a user should be able to do with your museum's data
  • Add sample records from your collections systems
  • (If you're not that technical or need to check back with your institution first), contribute a user story.

Oh, and once you've done that - tag someone in another museum.

I haven't asked people to update this page, but there are loads of tweets and blog posts (try http://conference.archimuse.com/ http://search.twitter.com/search?q=mw2009 http://technorati.com/search/mw2009?type=search&authority=a1&language=n or http://blogsearch.google.com/blogsearch?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=MW2009&scoring=d) tagged 'mw2009' and it seems like lots of people have been taking ideas back to their organisations and working practice.

And check out this page from Richard Urban (http://www.inherentvice.net/) on ' Putting IMLS DCC on the Map' (http://imlsdcc.wordpress.com/2009/04/27/putting-imls-dcc-on-the-map/) - totally inspiring!

Did one thing! ... the blog post is a day late, though. :)

Not strictly API-related, but I think Opensearch is good step for us. The groundwork has been laid technically to represent our objects as DC or almost anything, so an API is hopefully in the works for this year.
